For a class assignment, I created a mock cover for "Leave the World Behind", focusing on capturing the novel’s tone and themes through composition, color, and typography.
Sketches
I began by researching the book’s atmosphere and key motifs, then sketched out concepts before refining the final design digitally. Through the use of texture, contrast, and layering, I aimed to evoke the novel’s sense of mystery and unease while maintaining a visually compelling layout that played on the idea of serene atmospheres and shocking imagery.
Drafts
Drafts focused on three main themes: Pastel/Horror, Encroaching Nature, and Technology/Patterns.
Final Design
The final design I felt captures the book's themes which explore shifting expectations through the use of pastel colors and striking horror imagery that may unsettle the reader but also creates intrigue.
