Texas Archive of the Moving Image
Platform: Print
Deliverables: Postcards, Roller Banners, Rack Cards, Social Media Banners
The Texas Archive of the Moving Image (TAMI) reached out to the Austin Community College (ACC) design team to boost its brand recognition. They sought a consistent, flexible design style that would work with its current projects and could easily be adapted for future ones.
Define the problem
The team analyzed the client's existing materials and determined four key areas that needed to be addressed in order to boost brand recognition and create a professional look for materials when engaging with the public.
-Inconsistent color palettes.
-Inconsistent design styles.
-Lack of brand consistency.
-Overreliance on clipart.

Define the Audience
By gathering information about the client and researching competitors in the field and existing participants in the archival project, we created two personas to target when making design choices.
Age range: 22-60
Gender: Any
Hobbies/interests: Education, history
“Storyteller Educator”: Educators in Texas school districts and other educational institutions. They seek out resources to broaden their knowledge base regarding Texas history but also seek out personal and nostalgic elements of their subjects to capture the interests of their students by personalizing their lessons outside of rote curriculum-based instruction.

Define the Mood
Our first step was gathering assets for the product and creating a mood board that spoke to the aesthetic qualities and design ideas that we would be pursuing during the design process.

Final Product
Revisions were made based on the client's feedback which primarily focused on enlarging the client's logo, aligning the color palette to the client's preferences, increasing the use of archival photographs, and adjusting the copy to meet the client's needs.

Was the problem solved?
Our goal was to elevate TAMI’s presence at trade shows and state-wide initiatives by boosting outreach to educators, the general public, and the archival community. We created a consistent brand identity and a clean and professional look to their materials.
By enhancing their materials and displays, we created an engaging and welcoming experience that fosters connections and encourages others to contribute media to the archive and access materials on their web platform.
